DDS MSc (Lon)
Sara graduated in Dentistry in 2004, after which she spent time practising in Iran and the Philippines. Having moved to the UK, she qualified with MSc in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at UCL Eastman Dental Hospital. Whilst at UCL, she also received hospital training, spending a significant amount of time involved in major surgeries for trauma patients, and photodynamic surgeries for patients with cancer.
Sara provides general dental care to her patients, with a strong focus on preventive and cosmetic treatment. She is also well-versed in restorative and full mouth reconstruction and has developed expertise in these areas.
Over the years through her work, professional and academic training, Sara has developed a keen interest in a wide range of aspects of dentistry such as oral surgery, including complex and impacted teeth that require removal, implants, facial injuries and Temporomandibular Joint disorder.
Sara’s enthusiasm in Oral Surgery has driven her to utilise her experience by holding a position as a Visiting Lecturer at UCL Eastman Dental Institute where she is involved in the teaching of Oral Surgery courses, and the Overseas Registration Exam program.
Sara is a keen traveller and particularly enjoyed travelling across Asia and the Far East. She enjoys swimming, classical music and is also passionate about gardening.
Dr Carin Thorburn BchD 2006 GDC 192647
Carin Thorburn qualified in 2007 at the University of Western Cape in South Africa and passed the UK Overseas Registration Examination (ORE) in 2010. She also holds a BA in Fine Art from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa and is a qualified NLP practitioner.
Carin's greatest love in dentistry is working with and helping her patients to achieve and maintain that winning smile. Her greatest skill is listening to her patients and helping them to choose which treatments would suit them best.
Living in Southampton with her husband and Doug the dog, Carin enjoys photography.
Carin has been an integral part of CKL education for the last three years. She is an accomplished tutor who has helped many dentists successfully clear the ORE exam.
Professor StJohn Crean
BDS MBBS FDSRCS FFGDP(UK) FRCS FRCS(OMFS) PHD FHEA
StJohn was appointed as Director of Dental Research and Knowledge Transfer from October 2009 and Dean of the School of Post Graduate Medical and Dental Education in Jan 2010, but has recently been appointed as the Dean of the newly established School of Medicine and Dentistry at University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). This role makes StJohn responsible for both UG and PG Dentistry but also the newly established MB BS programme which will be recruiting from September this year to begin in 2014. He is also a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Blackpool Victoria Hospitals trust and holds an Honorary Consultant post at Lancaster and Morcombe Bay University Hospitals Trust. He previously held the post of Associate Director of Undergraduate Dental Studies and Year 3 Lead at Peninsula Dental School for 2 years.
His specialist training is in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and has held posts of Senior Lecturer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at University of Cardiff School of Dentistry before being appointed as Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Queen Marys, Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2003. In 2005 he was appointed as Consultant in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery to North Glamorgan NHS Trust with NHS duties at Royal Glamorgan and Prince Charles Hospitals whilst holding an Honorary Professorship at University of Cardiff School of Dentistry.
Alongside his role in UCLan, StJohn is currently the Robert Bradlaw advisor in the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England and is currently Editor in Chief of the Faculty Dental Journal (FDJ). He is also the President of the Northwest Branch of the British Dental Association
StJohn holds numerous examiner-ships at home and abroad advising on the establishment of many dental undergraduate and postgraduate courses and has research interests in the role of oral bacteria in systemic disease and the biology of stem cells derived from dental pulp.
Dr. Cary Bopiah
Dr. Cary Bopiah graduated (BDS) from the University of Pune, India. After graduation he completed a Masters in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (MDS). He moved to England and cleared his licensure exams from the General Dental Council UK
He obtained his MFDS from the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow and his MJDF from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
He then trained with the FGDP and Royal college of Surgeons, England for the Diploma in Implant Dentistry. He later obtained his Fellowship and Diploma from the International Congress of Oral Implantology (USA).
Dr. Bopiah is a Q-med certified dental surgeon for Botox and Dermal fillers and is a SAAD certified sedationist. He is on the editorial board of the Journals Streamdent and Journal of Oral Health and Community Dentistry.
Cary has successfully conducted courses nationally and internationally for the licensure exams conducted by the GDC UK, Licensure in Dental Surgery (LDS), MFDS and MJDF exams. He has designed courses, journals and trained dentists at the University of Lancashire and the Royal College of Surgeons of England. In the year 2009 he was awarded an Honorary Lectureship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England for his contribution to the Faculty of Dental Surgery.
To date he has trained over 4,500 dentists. He is a Joint Director at CKL Education Limited.
Amreeta is a General Dental Practitioner with a special interest in Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry. Amreeta joined the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in January 2011 to commence her MSc in Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry and is on course to finish her Masters degree in October 2013.
Amreeta passed her ORE in 2009 and became a part of the CKL Education faculty in January 2010. She has regularly been lecturing on ORE Part 2 courses and is involved in both the OSCE’s and Diagnosis and Treatment planning sections at CKL. She was part of the ORE faculty at UCLan in 2010 and taught on the hands on dental manikin course. Amreeta has also been part of the ORE faculty at the Royal College of Surgeons since January 2010 and is to be presented with an Honorary Lectureship with the Royal College of Surgeons, London in November.
Amreeta enjoys being part of the teaching faculty at CKL Education. Having been through the process herself, she understands what it takes to pass the ORE.
Noor Al-Mansouri, Specialist Orthodontist
BDS MSc Morth (Eng)
Noor is our resident specialist in braces. She qualified as a dental surgeon in 2001 and after a period in general dentistry practice and several hospital appointments she trained a further three years at the Eastman Dental Hospital.
During those three years, Noor gained her Masters in Orthodontics from University College London and later qualified with a membership in orthodontics from the RCS (Eng). Noor is a member of the BOS.
Noor now practices orthodontics exclusively and treats a variety of complex cases. She specialises in treating both adults and children with braces.
Noor is a lecturer at the faculty of dentistry, RCS (Eng) for the ORE exam. She is also a faculty member of CKL education limited and in addition to training dentists with the various components of the ORE exam she also delivers a hands on skills and lectures on Orthodontics.
After finishing his BDS, Soumil completed a three year Masters (MDS) in Prosthodontics. He further acquired advanced training in Prosthodontics from Showa University (Tokyo). He passed his Overseas Registration Examination in July 2012 and is well versed with the new format.
He joined the CKL faculty in 2011 and is actively involved in the logistics and decision making. He teaches Prosthodontics for the ORE Part 1 module and is a regular part of the ORE Part 2 OSCE and treatment planning sessions. He participates in training sessions with groups and individuals alike and is readily available for guidance on dental manikin exercises.
Established in 2007 by Professor St. John Crean and Dr. Cary Bopiah, CKL offers a selection of supportive courses for those preparing to sit licensure dental examinations such as the Licensure exam ORE and LDS.

CKL offer a selection of dynamic courses, designed to help students through the government run test.
Run throughout the year our courses take place across a minimum of two days and are held at venues close to London, offering easy transport access and comfortable surroundings.
Up to date and based on the current test curriculum, the courses for ORE Part 1 and 2 will offer lecture based sessions, practical sessions and feedback on all aspects. You will leave the course fully informed on the exam conditions and be able to take away the relevant materials for your continued studies.
